History of Our Magnet Programs
Magnet programs are designed to focus on a specific program of study. Students not zoned for Godby may apply for reassignment to attend specified programs. 

Amos P. Godby High School has a long tradition of offering unique programs, beginning with our Agriculture program which began with the opening of the school.  One of their more memorable achievements is building Cougar Plaza. After a short absence, the reestablished program is now focusing on Horticulture with students creating a garden outside the 400 building.

In 1982, we activated the first Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp in the county. FL811, an Air Force JROTC affiliate is still going strong.

Through the 1990's we were the district’s ESOL Center. From 2007-2011 the Academy of Architecture, Engineering & Construction built three houses that were eventually sold to the public. The Academy of Information Technology made its debut in 2008 as a school within a school program. Between 2010-2016 the Academy of Finance was providing the community with tax assistance through the VITA program. The AOF also ran a school store as well as a branch of the Envision Credit Union.

We also experimented for a few years with an automotive mechanics program that even had its own lift.

Continuing in this long tradition, we have programs to meet the diverse needs of society.
